Project Details

This week I am feeling a bit uninspired, so I am going to make a project that is already available on Cricut Design Space instead of creating something myself. I had saved this bookmark a while ago, so I am finally going to make it. It is currently free to make. The idea of the project is that the Cricut draws the picture then cuts it out, then you paint it with water colours.

Materials

For the bookmark I am using white cardstock, a LightGrip mat, a black Cricut pen, and water colour paints. If you would like to learn more about how to water colour, check out this website https://www.artsy.net/article/artsy-editorial-5-simple-watercolor-techniques-beginners.

Process

This is a very simple project because it was already designed and the Cricut does the majority of the work, I just put the cardstock on my mat. After drawing and cutting out the bookmark, I let it sit for a while so that the ink was dry and ready for painting. When I went to paint it, the ink did smudge so I would not recommend using the Cricut brand pen if you are using water colour.

I am not the best water colour painter, but it is something I really enjoy doing so I was happy to have an excuse to do it again. As simple as the project was, it was very relaxing painting it and it felt good to do something more relaxed this week. Below is the bookmark before painting and the completed project. Even though it smudged, I liked the effect it gave and overall, I was happy with the results.
